Department History

After a fire in 1952 destroyed a house on County Road 46, there was a call in the town of Hopewell to establish the fire department.   A few years later in March of 1959, the first meeting of the Hopewell Volunteer Fire Department took place.  Since then the department’s goal has been to prevent, when possible, or minimize the loss of life and property from the adverse effects of fire and other hazardous conditions or emergency situations.  We strive to protect life and property by maintaining a sound business with adequate apparatus, equipment, and membership while providing continual training and offering quality services in a professional manner.
